All is not well within the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Cross River State Chapter NIgeria, as stakeholders in the party are reportedly not happy with the zoning formula of the State Governor, Sen Prof Ben Ayade’s decision which will see his successor come from the Southern Senatorial District.
News Dot Africa gathered that in a meeting between political bigwigs in the party which included the likes of Pst. Usani Usani, Chris Agara Esq., Sen John Owan Enoh etc all from the Central Senatorial District in Ikom Local Government Area, they voiced their displeasure with the His Excellency stating that the decision has encouraged a Southern monopoly and not open up the political atmosphere.

They also stated that the Central happens to be the engine room of the State and the most competitive Senatorial District in the State, adding that the recent wave of defection in the other parts of the state has not affected them.

They also opined that the last by-election was a clear indication that a lot of work has to be done at the grassroot level. They promised to lead a delegation to the State Governor and the party chairman -Hon. Alphonsus Eba Esq. to state the position of the zone.

‘We appreciate the decision of the Governor to defect to the party because of how it strategically places the party for greatness in the state and we also congratulate the State Party Chairman for their recent inauguration. It puts more pressure on the party to lead with fairness and inclusiveness for everyone irrespective of Senatorial District’ they said.
