CRISIS ERUPTS IN CROSS RIVER STATE

It was a dark day on Monday as there erupted a communal crisis between Alesi community in Ikom Local Government Area and Ochon in Obubra Local Government Area, Central Cross River State in Nigeria.

Reports reaching News Dot Africa has it that the crisis began on Monday night and lasted till Tuesday, 8 March, 2022, with property damage and people sustaining injuries.

Former Gubernatorial Candidate in the State, Mr Emmanuel Abeshi was attacked and his car was vandalised. “It is on this ugly incident that I am calling on the attention of the Executive Governor, His Excellency Prof. Ben Ayade to deploy security operatives to the affected community before lives will be lost”, Aya Vincent, Andeshi aide said.

We are yet to ascertain the cause of the crisis but we have learned that securiry agents have helped to restore calm to the area as the Deputy Governor of the State, Prof Ivara Esu has arrived to broker a peace between the warring communities.
