Chief Ayuba Burkina Gufwan resumes as Executive Secretary of NCPWD

Chief Ayuba Burki Gufwan has assumed office as the new Executive Secretary of the National Commission for Persons with Disabilities (NCPWD), following his appointment by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. He succeeds Dr. James Lalu, the former Executive Secretary, and has pledged to build on the foundation laid by his predecessor.
Chief Ayuba Burki, a renowned advocate for the rights of persons with disabilities, has decades of experience in rehabilitation and empowerment of polio survivors. He has assured of his determination to aggressively push for the implementation of the National Discrimination and Prohibition Act passed in 2018, and to prioritize skilling and empowering persons with disabilities to be self-reliant and contribute to national building and prosperity.
“I am committed to driving home the renewed hope agenda for persons with disabilities, as envisioned by President Tinubu,” Chief Ayuba Burki said during his takeover ceremony. “I will work tirelessly to ensure that persons with disabilities have access to better opportunities and are empowered to reach their full potential.”
The National Commission for Persons with Disabilities is responsible for promoting the rights and well-being of persons with disabilities in Nigeria. With Chief Ayuba Burki at the helm, the commission is poised to make significant strides in advancing the cause of persons with disabilities in the country.
