CBN/MPC To Hold First Meeting Of Year January 23 & 24

The first meeting of the Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) for 2020, will hold Thursday and Friday, January 23 and 24, 2020.

According to a statement signed by the Director of Communications of the CBN, the meeting was earlier slated to hold on Monday and Tuesday, January 20 and 21, 2020 but no reason was given for shifting the meeting.

“The first meeting of the Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) for 2020, earlier slated to hold on Monday and Tuesday, January 20 and 21, 2020, respectively, has now been rescheduled for Thursday and Friday, January 23 and 24, 2020.

“The CBN regrets any inconvenience this change may have caused its stakeholders and the general public”, Mr Okorofor stated.

The Monetary Policy Committee is the highest policy making committee of the apex Bank which has the following mandate: 1. Review economic and financial conditions in the economy. 2. Determine appropriate stance of policy in the short to medium term. 3. Review regularly the CBN monetary policy framework and adopt changes when necessary.
