Capt Badeh Commiserates Passengers as NSIB Launches Investigation into Abuja-Kaduna Train Derailment

Director General, Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB), Capt Akec Badeh, has sympathised with those injured and extends its support to all passengers affected by the train derailment incident that occurred on the Abuja-Kaduna route today, August 26, 2025. The derailment happened at approximately 11:09 a.m. at KM 49 between Kubwa Station and Asham Station.
In a swift response the Bureau has launched an investigation which will focus on identifying the direct and underlying factors that led to the derailment, with the aim of issuing safety recommendations to prevent a recurrence.
“We deeply sympathise with all who sustained injuries. The Bureau has deployed investigators to the site to ensure the root cause of this derailment is uncovered. Our commitment is to ensure safer rail transport for Nigerians through a transparent and independent investigation”, he stated.

The NSIB will provide updates as the investigation progresses, Mrs Bimbo Olawumi Oladeji, Director, Public Affairs and Family Assistance assured.
