The National Senior Citizens Centre (NSCC), has concluded plans for a Master Train-The-Trainers program on model senior centres, care quality assurance and certification in Nigeria.
Mr Omini Oden,the Head, Corporate Affairs, Media and Communications of the Centre said it is one of NSCC’s template of developing the capacity of a pool of master trainers who will be consistently deployed to cascade the training program nationwide to build capacity for implementation of the establishment of Senior Centers and Services.
The training with technical support from the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UN DESA) is slated for August 16th to 19th 2022 in Abuja, Nigeria’s Federal Capital Territory.
It will have forty participants attending and shall be tailored in the Models of Senior Centers, Core Administration and Program Designing Competencies as well as on Care Quality Certification The training shall not be a one-off, the persons trained will be “NSCC’s GO-TO” trainers on the subject matter.
The categories of the trainees shall be NSCC’s officers from the Department of Health and Social Services, Department of Active Senior Centers and Support Services, Elder Justice Department, Stakeholders Engagement and Community Relations Department.Others to be trained are NSCC recognized subject matter experts already in the field of Health and Social Care working within local communities across the country.
Also to be trained are Vice-Chairs of NSCC’s Stakeholders Consultative Forum on Ageing and focal persons from 27 states, verified by NSCC to have the necessary prerequisites.
