Business Investment: Nigeria, Indonesia to strengthen partnership

The Republic of Indonesia has expressed its readiness to strengthen bilateral relations with Nigeria in the areas of Mining, Agriculture, Oil and Gas and other Economic sectors.

The Indonesian Minister of State of Enterprises, Mrs. Rini Soemarno, made this known in Abuja, during her One Day official visit with some investors from Indonesia to Nigeria.

Mrs.  Soemarno, who led the delegation said, her visit to Nigeria was to explore and utilize potentials of Nigeria and Indonesia in Mining, Oil and Gas, Energy and other areas of human growth.

“The visit is actually going into the ventures on developing the Mines sector, we feel that, there is need to process further to export finished product from the raw material and add value, because if we did not develop it (Mining) it will not give much benefit to our people, we hope to share our experience with Nigeria for the benefit of our people”. The Minister noted.

On his part, the Nigerian Minister of Mines and Steel Development, Mr. Olamilekan Adegbite, stressed Nigerian government commitment to  partner with Indonesia in diversifying its economy from the non-oil sectors to create employment opportunity to the teeming youth in the country.

“There are a lot of opportunities for the genuine investors in Nigeria, people who come looking of win-win situation with the opportunity Nigeria will welcome them, President Muhammadu Buhari in the next level agenda said, Nigeria wants diversify its economy from Oil base into other things especially Mining to improve the revenue base and generate employment to Nigerians to meet the target of pulling out hundred Million people out of poverty”. Mr. Adegbite explained.

During the visit, the two Ministers witnessed the signing documents of Memorandum of Understanding MOU by Indonesian investors in the mining value chain to harness their economic endowment for the benefit of the countries.
