Birth Anniversary Of Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatun Nessa Observed In Nigeria With Due Respect

The 90th birth anniversary of Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatun Nessa Mujib, wife of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, was observed on8 August, 2020 at the Bangladesh High Commission in Nigeria with due respect.
The programme which took place on virtual/digital included recitation from the Holy Quran, screening of documentary on the life of Bangamata, discussion meeting and special prayer.
While paying deep tribute to Shaheed Sheikh Fazilatunnesa, Mr. Md. Shameem Ahsan, Bangladesh High Commissioner to Nigeria said that her ideology would always remain as a source of inspiration for all Bangalee women. Mr. Ahsan further said that Bangamata remained as a shadow with Bangabandhu all through her life and silently helped Bangabandhu to take right decisions in all critical moments of the national history. While mentioning that she was not only the wife of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman but also one of the pioneers of the Bangalee’s struggle for freedom, the High Commissioner urged all to be imbued with the ideals of Bangamata.
Mr. Mohammad Shah Ekramul Hoque, Third Secretary of this High Commission moderated the programme. Mr. Mohammad Ekramul Hoque and Mr. Md. Akbar Hossain, a member of the community, also participated at the discussion meeting digitally.
Officers/Officials of the Mission were present but members of the community participated through zoom.
