Bayelsa Stadium Project will boost Sports Infrastructure, Sports Economy- Dikko l

The Renewed Hope Initiative for Nigeria’s Sports Economy (RHINSE), project will be boosted by sports infrastructural development across the country. To this end, there should be a conscious effort to upgrade and maintain existing sporting infrastructures and build new ones across the length and breath of the nation .
This was the view of National Sports Commission Chairman Mallam Shehu Dikko when he joined dignitaries including former president Dr. Goodluck Jonathan, host governor Douye Diri of Bayelsa State, former NFF President and FIFA Council member Amaju Melvin Pinnick, former Deputy Governor of Edo State Comrade Philip Shuaibu, NSC DG Hon. Bukola Olopade and NFF President Ibrahim Gusau for the groundbreaking ceremony of the ultramodern 25,000 capacity Bayelsa International Stadium in Igbogene Yenegoa.
During his address at the event, Mallam Dikko conveyed the goodwill and best wishes of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR to the Governor and the entire people of the State and enjoined the project handlers to ensure the delivery of the project within the envisaged parameters and specifications. He assured the State Government of all the requisite support of the Federal Government towards the project delivery.
“We are therefore, earnestly looking forward to the 24 months project delivery period for the completion and commissioning of the stadium. accordingly I, on behalf of the Federal Government and the entire sports stakeholders congratulate my brother and friend H.E Governor Douye Diri, the Executive Governor of Bayelsa State for the bold decision to embark on the project and indeed the entire citizens of Bayelsa State for this game changing and legacy project which will surely, in addition to the sporting benefits, also assist fast-track the development and growth of the state’s economy and Nigeria in general”, he said.
He continued, “This amazing world-class project expertly designed to the best international standards with all the requisite facilities is aimed to add to the stadium infrastructures in the country, provide a foundation for sports development and harnessing the potentials of sports economy and indeed open up Bayelsa State to the World.
“We at the National Sports Commission (NSC) are very pleased and excited with the project as it clearly aligns with our vision and objectives within the RHINSE framework and are thus committed to keep engaging and collaborating with the Bayelsa State Government to ensure its delivery within the core parameters and international requirements of stadium infrastructures capable of hosting major domestic and international sporting events as well as its optimal utilization.”
