Bangladesh to participate in 2019 Calabar Carnival

The Peoples Republic of Bangladesh has joined the league of states to participate in the 2019 edition of the Calabar Carnival.
This was made known by the the High Commissioner of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh to Nigeria, Mr Md. Shameem Ahsan, when the Cross River State Carnival Chairman paid him a courtesy visit.
He appealed to the organizer to put up a large stall where Bangladeshi products and literature will be exhibited at the 30days carnival village.
Speaking, Mr Onah who briefed the diplomat on this year’s Carnival plans, noted that the number of foreign participants has increased over the years, and that the Cross River State Governor, HE Ben Ayade has approved him to be among the dignitaries to declare the carnival dry run in Calabar on Sun 20th October 2019, and shall be marketed as a Tourists event by National Association of Tour Operators ( NATOP).
This year’s Carnival is themed ” Humanity”.
It could be recalled, that the Governor has said that 2019 Carnival should be beyond dance.
According to him the intellectual content of the carnival should be beyond dance, it must pass a strong message that would make the world a better place for humanity.
Also, in a chat with the media,Gabe had noted that the carnival would foster ethnic and religious tolerance among nations.
