Bangladesh Envoy Presents Credentials to Angolan President, Moves to Deepen Bilateral Ties

H.E. Mr. Miah Md. Mainul Kabir, non-resident Ambassador of Bangladesh to Angola, has formally presented his credentials to Angolan President, João Lourenço, on Friday, at the Presidential Palace in Luanda, marking a significant step in strengthening diplomatic relations between the two nations.

Following the credential ceremony, the Bangladeshi envoy held a tête-à-tête with President Lourenço, during which both sides discussed key areas of mutual interest aimed at expanding economic and technical cooperation.

Top on the agenda was Angola’s potential export of oil and gas to Bangladesh, alongside opportunities for Bangladesh to increase its exports of garments and pharmaceutical products to the Southern African nation.

The discussions also explored avenues for collaboration in the agricultural sector, with both countries expressing readiness to leverage their respective strengths.

President Lourenço reaffirmed Angola’s commitment to enhancing bilateral relations, expressing keen interest in deepening engagement with Bangladesh.

He assured the envoy of his government’s full support in advancing cooperation across identified sectors.

The meeting underscores a growing momentum in Bangladesh-Angola relations, as both countries seek to unlock new trade and investment opportunities for mutual benefit.

Ahead of presenting credentials to João Lourenço, Ambassador Miah Md. Mainul Kabir met Domingos Custódio Vieira Lopes, submitting copies of his diplomatic papers. Both sides discussed strengthening trade, investment, oil and gas cooperation, agriculture, and collaboration in global forums to deepen Bangladesh–Angola relations.
