Aviation Committee Chair Hails Tinubu Over Wushishi’s NECO Reappointment

The Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Aviation, Rt. Hon. Abdullahi Idris Garba, has applauded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for reappointing Professor Ibrahim Dantani Wushishi as Registrar and Chief Executive of the National Examinations Council (NECO), describing the move as a thoughtful decision that prioritises continuity and effective leadership.

In a statement released over the weekend, Garba said the President’s action underscores a strong commitment to competence, institutional stability, and the consolidation of ongoing reforms in key national agencies. He noted that Wushishi’s initial tenure brought measurable progress to NECO,

particularly in enhancing transparency, strengthening credibility, and improving operational standards within the examination body.

According to the lawmaker, the reappointment is a clear vote of confidence in the Registrar’s performance and reform-driven agenda. He added that the second term presents an opportunity to deepen existing gains while introducing new strategies that align NECO’s operations with international best practices.

Garba also highlighted the sense of pride among the people of Wushishi in Niger State and across his constituency, stating that Wushishi’s achievements reflect dedication, excellence, and a commitment to public service. He noted that such recognition serves as motivation for continued hard work and sets a positive example for leadership in the public sector.

The committee chairman reaffirmed his support for the NECO leadership and stressed the need for sustained collaboration among stakeholders to advance Nigeria’s education system. He expressed confidence that Wushishi’s renewed mandate will further strengthen the Council’s impact and leave a lasting imprint on the nation’s educational landscape.
