APGA Chieftain Rebukes Attacks On National Chairman

by Oru Leonard
Chief Mike Nwofor, a chieftain of the all Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has described continued media attacks on Dr Victor Oye, National chairman of the party as misplaced witch-hunt.
Nwofor who is a founding member of APGA made the condemnation while speaking to newsmen in Awka on Tuesday.
He said it was strange that after the conclusion of APGA primary election and the works of the part’s reconciliation committee in Anambra some people were bent on distracting the leadership.
The chieftain said he had not seen where people who purchased nomination forms to contest primary election demanded refund after losing the delegates’ nomination.
He accused the so-called aggrieved aspirants as people working for enemies of the party adding that the direct attacks on the office of the national chairman were uncalled for.
Chief Nwofor challenged whoever claimed to have grouse about the chairman on the grounds of extortion to come with evidence to provide or cease the attacks on him.
He said the reconciliation committee of the party that treated issues that arose from the primary election did a thorough job by addressing all concerned but regretted that some people wished to pull APGA down.
“The reconciliation committee did a good job, those now fanning the embers of hate are being manipulated from outside.
“Why is the national chairman, Chief Victor Oye the target of the attacks?
“It is simple; this is because their sponsors are averse to the change mantra of the Oye led national leadership.
“His achievements in three and half years have astounded even the most vitriolic critics.
“They are simply ganging up against his possible second term aspiration.
“But I don’t think the chairman is thinking about that now, the party chairman and lovers of APGA are focused on making the party win election all over Nigeria in 2019.
“God that brought us this far will make a way for us,” he said.
He urged members of the party to shun the machination of opposition party and help protect and preserve the party that has brought good governance to the people of Anambra for over a decade.
It would be recalled that some members of APGA under the aegis of aggrieved members were demanding refund of the money they paid for nomination forms.
They cited unfair playing ground for aspirants as the reason for the demands.
