AFCON 2023: Super Eagles players bestowed with National Honours

Following their performance at the just concluded African Culture of Nations (AFCON), in Cote D’ Ivoire, the Executive President of Nigeria, His Excellency, Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Tuesday splashed gifts on the Super Eagles players, including national honour, Member of the Order of the Niger (MON) , lands and flats to each player.
The President made the announcement when he received the silver-winning players at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
The team and officials of the Super Eagles was led to the Presidential Villa, by John Enoh, the minister of sports development.
Recall that the Super Eagles on Sunday narrowly lost the AFCON cup to the host national team, The Elephants of Cote d’ Ivoire, by 1 goal to 2.
He thanked the players for their resilience and for lifting the spirit of the nation through their matches, adding that it’s not easy to absolve a loss but the Super Eagles demonstrated Sportsmanship and a can-do attitude.
He also stated that he is very proud of them.
