ADC Criticism Misplaced as Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda Reforms Deliver Results — TDF

The Democratic Front (TDF), has faulted comments by the African Democratic Congress (ADC), on the recent fuel price increase, describing the party’s position as ill-informed and politically motivated.
In a statement issued by its Chairman, Mallam Danjuma Muhammad, and Secretary, Chief Wale Adedayo, the group said it was unfair to blame the administration of Bola Ahmed Tinubu for developments triggered by external factors, including tensions in the Middle East.
According to TDF, remarks by ADC National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, reflect a lack of empathy and a desperate attempt to discredit ongoing reforms.
“It is regrettable that the ADC, in its quest for political relevance, has chosen to ignore the realities of global economic dynamics while unfairly attacking the government,” the statement read.
The group maintained that contrary to claims by the opposition, the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda is already yielding measurable results across key sectors of the economy and public life.
TDF highlighted initiatives such as the student loan scheme under NELFUND, which it described as a lifeline for underprivileged students, as well as increased allocations to states through the Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC), enabling sub-national governments to execute development projects.
The statement also pointed to improvements in agriculture and food security, noting a reported decline in inflation figures, alongside broader economic stabilisation efforts.
In addition, the group cited progress in housing and healthcare, including the construction of thousands of housing units for low- and middle-income earners and expanded access to health insurance coverage for millions of Nigerians.
TDF further criticised Abdullahi’s past role in government, referencing his service under former President Goodluck Jonathan, which it claimed did not deliver comparable economic impact.
The group urged the ADC spokesperson to refrain from what it described as baseless attacks and instead engage constructively, stressing that sustained criticism without acknowledgment of progress would not strengthen the opposition’s credibility.
It concluded that the Tinubu administration remains focused on consolidating reforms aimed at long-term national development despite external economic pressures.
