A NEW DAWN FOR NIGERIAN WOMEN: Minister Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim Unveils Vision for Empowerment

Honorable Minister of Women Affairs, Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim’s speech, marks the beginning of a new era for Nigerian women, children, and vulnerable citizens. She emphasized the need to address significant barriers inhibiting Nigerian women from reaching their full potential, particularly in business, employment, politics, education, and sports.

For a start the new Women Affairs Minister has set her focus and commitment to:

– Empowering Women through Skills development, entrepreneurial support, employment opportunities, and political participation.

– Protecting Rights by ensuring policies effectively protect women, children, persons with disabilities, and the vulnerable.
– Closing Gender Gap by fostering equal opportunities through education, vocational training, and leadership development.
– Supporting Women Entrepreneurs by strengthening the environment that nurtures women’s contributions to the economy.
– Addressing Gender-Based Violence by ensuring swift and fair justice, expanding social services, and creating safe spaces.

Honourable Imman’ Strategic Objectives include but not limited to:

– Becoming Africa’s leader in gender equity.
– Producing a comprehensive country report to assess progress and recalibrate strategies.
– Strengthening guidelines and protocols for child protection.
– Collaborating with stakeholders to achieve shared objectives.

Minister Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim urges collective action from government, private sector, civil society, and international partners to drive inclusivity and protection for all, emphasizing that “it is indeed Women O’clock in Nigeria”.
