The intervention covers 79 universities, 46 polytechnics and 41 colleges of education, with the funds earmarked for approved projects designed to strengthen infrastructure and enhance the quality of education in the beneficiary institutions.

A breakdown of the allocations shows that 79 universities will receive a total of ₦28.5 billion, while 46 polytechnics have been allocated ₦5.8 billion. The 41 colleges of education will share ₦4.7 billion.

The disbursement is part of the Federal Government’s broader commitment to revitalising public tertiary education and implementing agreed measures contained in the Memorandum of Understanding between the government and the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU).

The funds are expected to enable beneficiary institutions to commence or continue approved projects addressing critical infrastructure deficiencies and other identified institutional needs.

The intervention is also aimed at strengthening institutional capacity, improving the learning environment and supporting efforts to enhance the overall quality of tertiary education in the country.

The Federal Ministry of Finance emphasised the importance of effective collaboration among the Federal Ministry of Finance, the Federal Ministry of Education and the beneficiary institutions to ensure that the funds are judiciously utilised and deliver measurable improvements in educational infrastructure.
