The National Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (NACCIMA) has called for stronger economic cooperation between Nigeria and China, with emphasis on trade facilitation, investment promotion, technology transfer and sustainable business partnerships.
The association made the call during an engagement tagged “An Evening with the Chinese Ambassador to Nigeria,” held in Abuja on Thursday, October 22, 2026.
The NACCIMA delegation was led by its National President, Engr. Jani Ibrahim, mni, OON.
The association said stronger economic relations between both countries would create opportunities for Nigeria’s private sector, particularly in industrial development, economic diversification, job creation and technology transfer.
According to NACCIMA, the engagement was designed to encourage Chinese investors to explore viable investment opportunities across Nigeria’s priority sectors, including manufacturing, agriculture and agro-processing, solid minerals, infrastructure, renewable energy, technology, healthcare and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
The association noted that Nigeria-China economic relations could deliver greater benefits through practical partnerships that support local industries, strengthen domestic production and improve the competitiveness of Nigerian businesses.
It added that the meeting provided an opportunity to discuss challenges affecting bilateral trade and investment, including trade facilitation, investor confidence, business mobility, access to reliable market information and stronger connections between Nigerian entrepreneurs and their Chinese counterparts.
NACCIMA stressed that economic diplomacy should produce tangible results beyond official engagements, including increased private-sector participation, mutually beneficial investments, local capacity development, technology transfer and decent employment opportunities for Nigerians.
The association reaffirmed its readiness to collaborate with the Chinese Embassy, relevant government institutions, chambers of commerce and private-sector stakeholders to translate diplomatic relations into concrete economic gains.
The NACCIMA National President commended the Chinese Ambassador for granting the association an audience and demonstrating commitment to deepening relations between the two countries.
Ibrahim also expressed NACCIMA’s willingness to partner with the ambassador in advancing his vision for stronger Nigeria-China relations.
The association reiterated its commitment to promoting enterprise, facilitating trade and attracting investments capable of contributing to Nigeria’s economic growth and national development.
NACCIMA promotes enterprise, facilitates trade and drives investment for national development.
