NSC Schedules Technical Meeting, Venue Inspection for Enugu 2026 National Sports Festival

The National Sports Commission (NSC) has scheduled a joint technical meeting and inspection of sports venues and facilities for the 23rd National Sports Festival, tagged Coal City Games Enugu 2026, from October 27 to 30, 2026.
The exercise is aimed at assessing the readiness of facilities designated for the Games, addressing technical issues and ensuring adequate preparations for the national sporting event.
The Commission, under the leadership of its Chairman, Mallam Shehu Dikko, and Director-General, Hon. Bukola Olopade, said the exercise would bring together key stakeholders to review technical arrangements and identify potential challenges ahead of the festival.
According to a schedule issued by the Office of the Director-General, participants are expected to arrive on Tuesday, October 27, while the inspection of venues and facilities will take place on Wednesday, October 28.
The inspection will continue alongside the Joint Technical Meeting on Thursday, October 29, with participants scheduled to depart on Friday, October 30.
Expected participants include members of the Main Organising Committee (MOC), secretaries and technical directors of National Sports Federations, zonal coordinators, state directors of sports and representatives of the media.
The meeting and facility inspection form part of the preparations to ensure effective coordination among the National Sports Commission, the Enugu State Government and other stakeholders involved in organising the festival.
The exercise is also expected to provide an opportunity for stakeholders to examine the technical requirements of the Games, evaluate available infrastructure and identify areas requiring attention before the commencement of the competition.
The NSC said the preparations reflect its commitment to strengthening sports development and providing an enabling environment for athletes from across the country to compete and showcase their talents at the Coal City Games.
The 23rd National Sports Festival, scheduled to hold in Enugu in 2026, is expected to bring together athletes and sports officials from across Nigeria to compete in various sporting events.
