TCN Schedules Maintenance at Ajaokuta Transmission Substation, Several Areas to Experience Power Outage

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has announced a scheduled annual preventive maintenance exercise at its 330/132kV Ajaokuta Transmission Substation in Kogi State.
According to a notice issued by TCN Management on Monday, the maintenance is scheduled to take place on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.
TCN said the exercise is aimed at carrying out preventive maintenance on its 162MVA, 330/132kV power transformer, associated switchgear and other ancillary equipment at the substation.
The company explained that the maintenance would temporarily affect electricity supply to several communities and industrial customers served by the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) and Benin Electricity Distribution Company (BEDC).
Under the AEDC network, affected areas include Ekirin, Omuo, Ibillo, Akoko, Ogala, Ikare, Magongo, Okene Town, Ayere, Kabba and environs.
Customers under BEDC in Okpella Town, BUA Cement Company, West African Fertilizer Company, Dibeks Milling Company, Edestein Company, Freedom Group Company, Ososo, Uluoke, Iyora, Apana, Okpekpe, Arigidi, Ikare Town, Lampese, Igara, Oka and environs are also expected to experience interruptions.
TCN noted that AEDC and BEDC would be unable to off-take electricity to customers in the affected locations during the maintenance period.
The transmission company assured electricity consumers that power supply would be restored to the affected areas immediately after the completion of the maintenance exercise.
TCN apologised for the inconvenience the planned exercise may cause electricity customers, while appealing for their understanding and cooperation.
The notice was signed by the Management of the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) and dated September 14, 2026.
