Nigeria, Sierra Leone Deepen Trade Ties as Envoy Attends Maiden Chamber of Commerce Trade Fair

The High Commissioner of Nigeria to the Republic of Sierra Leone, Ambassador Ayo Luther-Ogbomode, has reaffirmed Nigeria’s commitment to strengthening economic diplomacy and expanding bilateral trade relations between the two countries.
The envoy gave the assurance while attending the opening ceremony of the Maiden Nigeria Chamber of Commerce Trade Fair in Freetown on 30 July 2026.
The trade fair was officially declared open by Sierra Leone’s Minister of Trade and Industry, Hon. Alpha Ibrahim Sesay, who emphasized the shared resolve of Nigeria and Sierra Leone to promote trade, investment, and private sector development as key drivers of economic growth.
The maiden edition of the trade fair provides a platform for Nigerian and Sierra Leonean businesses to explore commercial opportunities, showcase products and services, and build stronger partnerships aimed at boosting cross-border trade and investment.
The event also reflects the enduring economic and diplomatic relations between both countries, with stakeholders expressing optimism that the initiative will enhance business collaboration and create new opportunities for entrepreneurs and investors.
Ambassador Luther-Ogbomode’s participation underscored the Nigerian High Commission’s commitment to advancing economic diplomacy through initiatives that promote trade cooperation, support private sector engagement, and deepen commercial ties between the business communities of Nigeria and Sierra Leone.
