APPMEN to Host 2026 National Conference for Media Owners, Content Creators in Abuja

The Association of Proprietors of Private Media Establishments of Nigeria (APPMEN), has announced plans to host its 2026 One-Day Conference, bringing together media proprietors, digital content creators, policymakers, corporate leaders, regulators and development partners to chart a new course for Nigeria’s media industry.
Scheduled for Thursday, September 24, 2026, the conference will take place at the AIG Aishatu Abubakar Baju Hall, beside the TETFund Headquarters, Maitama, Abuja, under the theme, “APPMEN: Voice, Vision, Purpose.”
According to a statement signed by Felix Onuah, APPMEN FCT Council Coordinator and Chairman of the Conference Planning Committee, the event aims to reposition Nigeria’s private media and digital content ecosystem as a strategic driver of national development, job creation, responsible storytelling and economic growth.
The association noted that as digital influence continues to expand rapidly, there is an urgent need for stronger institutional frameworks, capacity building and strategic partnerships to transform media platforms into sustainable institutions capable of contributing meaningfully to national development.
The conference will feature two major segments. The morning session will focus on capacity building and policy discussions, bringing together media proprietors, content creators, regulators and development partners. Activities will include masterclasses facilitated by legal experts, media scholars and industry practitioners, a panel discussion on “The Future of Nigerian Media — Policy, Platforms, and Purpose,” interactive question-and-answer sessions, stakeholder commitments and the adoption of a communiqué.
The evening session will feature a Gala Night and Cocktail designed to celebrate excellence within the media industry while fostering strategic collaborations. Highlights will include an investiture ceremony, awards to distinguished and patriotic Nigerians, the unveiling of ambassadors for the “The Leadership We Want” campaign, and the official presentation of the maiden edition of the APPMEN Magazine.
APPMEN also called on the Federal Government, state governments, regulatory agencies, corporate organisations, development partners and media support institutions to partner with the association through sponsorships and collaborations.
According to the organisers, such partnerships will support media and content creator training, legal aid initiatives, safety programmes and platforms that project authentic Nigerian stories to global audiences.
Describing the conference as more than a routine gathering, APPMEN said the initiative represents a movement to build an ethical, profitable and patriotic media sector capable of strengthening democracy and advancing national development.
The statement was jointly endorsed by Felix Onuah, APPMEN FCT Council Coordinator and Chairman of the Conference Planning Committee, and Chief Precious Enebuse, APPMEN National Coordinator.
