Nigeria Congratulates Malawi on Independence Anniversary, Reaffirms Strong Bilateral Ties

The Federal Government has congratulated the Republic of Malawi on the occasion of its Independence Anniversary, reaffirming Nigeria’s commitment to deepening bilateral relations and expanding cooperation between the two African nations.

In a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Honourable Minister of Foreign Affairs, Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, extended warm congratulations to her Malawian counterpart, Nancy Tembo, as well as the government and people of Malawi.

The minister described the anniversary as a significant milestone that reflects the resilience, unity and enduring spirit of the Malawian people in their pursuit of sovereignty, peace and sustainable development. She noted that Nigeria joins Malawi in celebrating the historic occasion, underscoring the shared commitment of both countries to freedom, democratic values and regional stability.

According to the statement, Nigeria and Malawi have continued to enjoy cordial bilateral relations anchored on cooperation in trade, agriculture, education, capacity building and multilateral engagements. Both countries also work closely within the African Union, the United Nations and other international platforms to promote peace, security and sustainable development across Africa and beyond.

The Federal Government reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening ties with Malawi by exploring new areas of collaboration and promoting greater people-to-people exchanges for the mutual benefit of both countries.

The statement concluded with Nigeria conveying its warmest felicitations to the Government and people of Malawi, wishing the country continued peace, prosperity and national progress.
