The Federal Government has announced the killing of Abu-Bilal Al-Minuki, identified as the second-in-command of ISIS, during a joint military operation conducted by Nigerian forces and the United States Africa Command in the Lake Chad region.

According to a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Spokesperson Kimiebi Imomotimi Ebienfa on Saturday, the operation was successfully executed after what it described as “meticulous planning” by the armed forces of both countries.

The Ministry noted that Abu-Bilal Al-Minuki was linked to several recent attacks on military formations in Nigeria’s North-East region, where security forces have continued counterterrorism operations against insurgent groups.

The Federal Government commended the collaboration between Nigeria and the United States in combating terrorism and strengthening regional security.
The statement also praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his commitment to national security and acknowledged the support of the United States Government in ongoing counterterrorism efforts.
