RMAFC Chairman Pours Accolades as Dr. Tanimu Adamu Aliyu Retires

The Chairman of the Revenue Mobilization Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC), Dr. Mohammed Bello Shehu, has described the outgoing Director of the department of Fiscal Efficiency of the Commission Dr. Tanimu Adamu Aliyu, as one of the finest and most accomplished directors to have served the Commission.
Dr. Shehu stated this, during a send-forth ceremony organized in honour of Dr. Aliyu at the Commission’s headquarters in Abuja on Thursday 14th March, 2026.
In his tribute, the Chairman praised Dr. Aliyu’s exceptional intellect, dedication, discipline, and commitment to national service.
“Dr. Tanimu Adamu Aliyu is one of the best directors we have ever had in this Commission. He is highly knowledgeable, disciplined, and deeply committed to excellence. Nigeria is proud of his service to the nation, and the Commission is proud of his remarkable contributions,” the Chairman stated.
The Chairman noted that Dr. Aliyu’s strict but principled approach to work earned him admiration and respect across the Commission.
“He may not have been liked by everyone because he is very strict and straightforward, but that is precisely what made him outstanding. He had zero tolerance for mediocrity and always insisted on doing things the right way,” he said.
He also acknowledged Dr. Aliyu’s commitment to continuous learning, noting that he attained several academic qualifications, including his doctorate degree, while serving in the Commission.
“I challenge every member of staff to emulate his example. While working here, he continued to improve himself academically and professionally. Before the end of your careers, you too should strive to attain the highest level of education possible,” he added.
While describing the retiring director as a versatile and well-grounded professional, the Chairman stated that Dr. Tanimu possessed a rare ability to engage meaningfully on issues ranging from economics and politics to international affairs.
“When you engage Dr. Tanimu, you immediately recognize that you are speaking with someone who is exceptionally well informed and intellectually grounded,” The Chairman said.
Expressing confidence in the celebrant’s future, Dr. Shehu emphasised that he still had much to contribute to Nigeria and could return to serve the country in even higher capacities.
“I will not be surprised if he returns to this Commission as a Federal Commissioner or even as Chairman. He has the competence, the experience, and the leadership qualities to serve Nigeria at the highest levels,” he said.
The Chairman thanked Dr. Aliyu for his loyalty, wise counsel, and unwavering dedication to service.
“The nation celebrates you. The Commission celebrates you. Your family celebrates you. We thank you for your outstanding service to your fatherland and wish you every success in the next chapter of your life,” he concluded.
Speaking on behalf of the Federal Commissioners, Hon. Ozo Obodougo Obumneme, Federal Commissioner representing Enugu State and Chairman of the Customs Monitoring Committee, described Dr. Aliyu as a highly disciplined, principled, and intellectually gifted officer whose commitment to excellence has left an enduring legacy in the Commission.
“Dr. Tanimu Adamu Aliyu distinguished himself through hard work, integrity, and an unwavering commitment to the ideals of public service. His contributions to the Commission and to national development are worthy of commendation, and we are confident that he will continue to excel in all his future endeavours,” Hon. Obumneme said.
Federal Commissioners who attended the event included Hon. Abdulazeez Idris King, Hon Commissioner representing Kogi State, Hon. Muhammed Kabeer Usman, Federal Commissioner representing Gombe State; Kabir Muhammad Mashi, Federal Commissioner representing Katsina State; and Hon. Nduka Henry Awuregu, Federal Commissioner representing Ebonyi State.
Management and staff of the Commission delivered goodwill messages in recognition of Dr. Aliyu’s invaluable contributions to the growth and success of the Revenue Mobilization Allocation and Fiscal Commission, describing him as a consummate professional, mentor, and exemplary public servant.
In his response, Dr. Aliyu expressed profound gratitude to the Chairman, Honourable Commissioners, Management, and staff for the honour bestowed on him.
“I am deeply humbled by this recognition. Serving the Revenue Mobilization Allocation and Fiscal Commission has been one of the greatest privileges of my professional life. I thank the Chairman for his support and leadership, and I appreciate my colleagues for the cooperation and friendship we shared over the years,” he said.
Dr. Aliyu stated that whatever achievements he recorded in the Commission were made possible through teamwork and dedication to the Commission’s mandate.
“As I begin a new chapter, I will always cherish the memories, relationships, and experiences gained here. RMAFC will forever remain a part of me, and I will continue to support the Commission and our nation in every way I can,” he added.
