Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, has expressed profound gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for appointing her as the substantive Minister of the Ministry.
Odumegwu-Ojukwu, who served as Minister of State for Foreign Affairs since assuming office on November 4, 2024, received the news during a dinner hosted by the Ministry to conclude a three-day induction programme for Ambassadors and High Commissioners-Designate, alongside their spouses.
Speaking at the event—her first official engagement as substantive minister—she thanked the President for the confidence reposed in her and described the appointment as a call to greater service. She urged the Ambassadors-Designate, the diplomatic corps, and ministry staff to collaborate closely in projecting a positive image of Nigeria globally while safeguarding national interests.
In a message shared via her X (formerly Twitter) handle, Odumegwu-Ojukwu said she was deeply honoured by the appointment, noting that she remains committed to advancing Nigeria’s foreign policy objectives.
“I am truly honoured to step into this new position and wish to express my most profound appreciation to our Nation’s President. I am humbled by your trust and confidence in my abilities,” she stated.
She further reaffirmed her dedication to promoting the 4D Foreign Policy Priorities of the Renewed Hope Agenda, strengthening citizen diplomacy, and advancing Nigeria’s interests on the global stage.
