A Justice of the Court of Appeal, Eberechi Suzzette Nyesom-Wike, has called for a united national effort to curb road accidents, urging Nigerians to take collective responsibility for safety on the highways.

She made the appeal in Abuja during her investiture as an Honorary Special Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), where she stressed that reducing road crashes requires more than concern—it demands active citizen participation.
Justice Nyesom-Wike challenged Nigerians to engage meaningfully in the FRSC Special Marshals scheme, noting that discipline, vigilance, and adherence to traffic rules are essential to saving lives.

The ceremony, organised by the FRSC Federal Capital Territory Sector Command, was led by the Zonal Commanding Officer, ACM Comfort Asom, on behalf of the Corps Marshal. She highlighted the importance of Special Marshals as key advocates of road safety and urged volunteers to uphold integrity, patriotism, and commitment to service.

Also present was the National Coordinator of Special Marshals, Engr. Dr. Usman Adaji, alongside several Justices of the Court of Appeal, underscoring the significance of the occasion.

In his remarks, the FCT Sector Commander, Corps Commander Tijani Iliyasu, said the Command is intensifying efforts to broaden public engagement and strengthen road safety awareness across Abuja. He noted that the inclusion of high-profile figures like Justice Nyesom-Wike would boost advocacy and encourage compliance with traffic regulations.

In her acceptance speech, the appellate justice warned against reckless driving and other dangerous road behaviours, calling for greater public awareness and a shift in attitude to reduce fatalities on Nigerian roads.
