INEC Adjusts Campaign Timeline for Osun Governorship Election
The Independent National Electorsk mmCommission (INEC) has announced a consequential adjustment to the campaign timeline for the upcoming Osun State governorship election following a shift in the election date.

In a statement issued on April 16, 2026, INEC recalled that it had earlier moved the Osun governorship poll by one week—from August 8 to August 15, 2026—as part of its revised timetable for the 2027 general elections.

Consequently, political parties are now required to end their campaigns by midnight on Thursday, August 13, 2026.

The Commission noted that this aligns with Section 98(1) of the Electoral Act 2026, which mandates that all campaigns must cease 24 hours before election day.
INEC called on all political parties, candidates, and relevant stakeholders to strictly comply with the updated schedule to ensure orderly conduct of the election.

The Commission reaffirmed its commitment to delivering free, fair, credible, and inclusive elections.
