Nigeria Felicitates Tunisia on Independence, Pledges Stronger Diplomatic Relations

The Federal Government of Nigeria has extended warm congratulations to the Republic of Tunisia on the occasion of its Independence Anniversary, marking the country’s attainment of sovereignty in 1956.
In a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Abuja, the Honourable Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, conveyed Nigeria’s goodwill to his Tunisian counterpart, Mohamed Ali Nafti, describing the anniversary as a historic milestone that reflects Tunisia’s enduring commitment to sovereignty, national development, and democratic evolution.
Nigeria noted that both countries have sustained cordial and mutually beneficial diplomatic relations over the years, anchored on shared values of mutual respect, African solidarity, and constructive engagement.
The statement highlighted ongoing cooperation between Nigeria and Tunisia in bilateral and multilateral platforms, including the African Union and the United Nations, where both nations continue to work together to promote peace, stability, and sustainable development across Africa.
Nigeria also acknowledged Tunisia’s contributions to regional stability and economic development in North Africa, while emphasizing opportunities to deepen collaboration in key sectors such as trade, investment, education, tourism, and cultural exchange.
Reaffirming its commitment to strengthening ties, Nigeria expressed readiness to expand cooperation through sustained diplomatic dialogue and partnerships of mutual interest.
The Federal Government further wished the government and people of Tunisia continued peace, progress, and prosperity.
