Gumel Congratulates Nigerian Olympian Oyedeji Elected WOA Secretary-General

Engr. Habu Ahmed Gumel, President of the Nigerian Olympic Committee (NOC), has congratulated Olumide Oyedeji on his landslide victory as Secretary-General of the World Olympians Association (WOA). Oyedeji, NOC 3rd Vice President and Nigeria Olympians Association (NOA) President, secured 55 votes, outpacing competitors from El Salvador and Puerto Rico.

According the NOC President, “This milestone marks a significant achievement for Nigerian sports, elevating the country’s influence in global Olympic affairs. Oyedeji’s election reflects his leadership and expertise, strengthening Nigeria’s presence in international sports diplomacy.”

Olumide Oyedeji’s ascent to this global role reinforces Nigeria’s growing influence within the International Olympic Committee. As a former NBA star and captain of the Nigerian men’s basketball team (D’Tigers), Oyedeji has long been a vocal advocate for athlete welfare.

Olumide Oyedeji Listen (born 11 May 1981), is a Nigerian former professional basketball center. He is currently the President of Hoops N’ Read basketball club, Gidi Giants Basketball Club and Dolphins Basketball Club.
