A prominent citizen and nation builder, Citizen Bolaji O. Akinyemi, has submitted a public petition to the National Assembly, urging lawmakers to re-prioritize the 2026 budget around Security, Education, and Agriculture (SEA).
This comes after revelations of a staggering ₦17.5 trillion spent on pipeline protection and energy security costs, sparking widespread outrage and concern. Akinyemi questions the justification of such expenditure while millions of Nigerians remain unprotected, uneducated, and hungry.
The petition demands an immediate investigation into the pipeline expenditure, freezing of opaque budget lines, and prioritization of SEA in the 2026 budget. Akinyemi also calls for enhanced support for security personnel, a national out-of-school children rescue plan, and food security initiatives.
