SOAD and NiDCOM Forge Partnership to Empower African Diaspora

The State of the African Diaspora (SOAD), and the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to strengthen collaboration and partnership between the two organizations. The agreement aims to promote Pan-African solidarity, diaspora inclusion, and economic cooperation across the continent and beyond.
Leading the delegation, the Prime Minister of the State of the African Diaspora, Dr. Louis-Georges Tin, commended the visionary leadership of Hon. (Dr.) Abike Dabiri-Erewa, Chairman/CEO, NiDCOM, for her outstanding commitment to mobilising and empowering Nigerians in the diaspora for national development.
Tin noted that the visit was aimed at building bridges of cooperation between SOAD and NiDCOM in promoting Pan-African solidarity, diaspora inclusion, and economic cooperation across the continent and beyond.
“We are impressed by the remarkable work NiDCOM is doing in giving the Nigerian diaspora a strong institutional voice. The State of the African Diaspora is eager to explore areas where we can align efforts, from investment promotion to cultural exchange and diaspora reintegration,” he stated.
In her response, Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, represented by Engr. Sule Yakubu Bassi, Secretary to the Commission, expressed appreciation for the visit, describing it as timely and significant in advancing the common vision of engaging the African diaspora as a vital partner for continental growth and unity.
She reiterated NiDCOM’s readiness to collaborate with SOAD in key areas such as diaspora data mapping, youth engagement, skills transfer, investment facilitation, and the promotion of African heritage.
“The African diaspora is one of the continent’s greatest assets. Strengthening partnerships like this will help us tell our stories better, harness our potentials, and create tangible impact for our people,” she added.
Both parties agreed to establish a joint working framework to identify specific programs of mutual interest and maintain continuous dialogue toward achieving shared objectives.
The visit ended with both institutions reaffirming their commitment to fostering stronger ties between Africans at home and abroad.
