INEC Approves Promotion of 471 Junior Staff Ahead of Key Elections

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), has approved the promotion of 471 junior staff members (GL 03-06) in its 2025 promotion exercise. The decision was made during the Commission’s weekly meeting, chaired by Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, on September 25, 2025.
Out of 515 staff shortlisted, 214 were promoted to GL07, 134 to GL06, 106 to GL05, and 17 to GL04.
According to the statement signed by Sam Olumekun, National Commissioner and Chairman, Information & Voter Education Committee, “The Commission remains committed to regular merit-based promotion and the welfare of staff. We urge all staff to rededicate themselves to service, particularly with regard to elections and electoral activities.”
The Commission has since commenced the promotion exercise for senior staff.
