Najomo’s Confirmation As DG NCAA, Comes With Expectations From Stakeholders

The Nigerian aviation sector is celebrating a major milestone as the Senate has confirmed Captain Chris Najomo as the new Director-General of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA). This confirmation is a significant boost to the sector, given Captain Najomo’s extensive experience and impressive performance during his acting period.
With over four decades of experience in leadership, piloting, and regulatory expertise, Captain Najomo is well-equipped to lead the NCAA. His previous roles include Director of Air Transport Regulation, Chief Pilot at Arik Air, and Managing Director/CEO of Capital Airline.
The Senate’s confirmation of Captain Najomo’s appointment is a testament to his suitability for the position. Senator Buhari Abdulfatai, Chairman of the Aviation Committee, highlighted Captain Najomo’s extensive experience and significant contributions to the aviation sector.
As the new Director-General of NCAA, Captain Najomo is expected to build on his previous achievements and drive growth and development in the aviation sector. His confirmation has been met with enthusiasm from stakeholders, who are optimistic about the future of the sector under his leadership.
However, Najomo’s confirmation come with key expectations from stakeholders which include:
- Enhanced Safety Standards: Building on his experience in regulatory expertise, Captain Najomo is expected to prioritize safety standards in the aviation sector.
- Improved Infrastructure: The new Director-General is likely to focus on upgrading Nigeria’s aviation infrastructure, including airports and air traffic control systems.
- Increased Collaboration: Captain Najomo’s experience in international aviation organizations is expected to foster increased collaboration between Nigeria’s aviation sector and global partners
- Regular Communication and Feedback: Information Management, Strategic communication and media collaboration should also be in the front seat alongside other operations in the Agency. Regular engagement with the public through, conventional, below – the – line and the new Media.
NCAA needs utmost support from air passengers, airline operators, sister agencies, other stakeholders and the Federal Government of Nigeria to deliver on it’s mandate in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
