Dr. Ibrahim Abubakar Kana, Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development, has issued a statement to clarify his earlier remarks on the revival of the National Carrier Project. Kana emphasized that he never mentioned reviving the botched Nigeria Air deal with Ethiopian Airlines, but rather referred to the administration’s vision to consider a national carrier project if favorable to the country.
“Since my inaugural statement on Monday at the hand-over ceremony, I have been inundated with inquiries about my reference to the revival of the National Carrier Project.
For the avoidance of doubt I never said that there is a mandate to revive the botched Nigeria Air deal with Ethiopian airline. I received no such instruction. I was only referring to the general vision of the Administration to still consider a National Carrier Project if it is favourable to the country and under the guidance and directives of Mr. President and the Honourable Minister of Aviation. I hope this clarifies all the ambiguities surrounding my earlier statement on this issue.” he stated.
Kana reiterated his commitment to working closely with the Honourable Minister of Aviation to drive the ministry’s agenda forward, ensuring a bright, innovative, and aspirational future for Nigeria’s aviation sector. He pledged absolute loyalty to the minister and dedication to achieving the administration’s goals.
This clarification comes after Kana’s inaugural statement sparked inquiries about the national carrier project’s revival. With this statement, Kana aims to dispel any ambiguities and reaffirm his focus on advancing Nigeria’s aviation and aerospace development.
