The University of Maiduguri (UNIMAID) has disclosed it has no affiliation with the International Institute of Journalism (IIJ), Abuja who has been purportedly rocked with certificate forgery scandal in recent months.
Recall that there have allegations of certificate forgery involving individuals who were elected as executives of the NUJ FCT Council. These individuals allegedly obtained fraudulent statements of results and certificates from IIJ.
According to a UNIMAID Senate member, who chose to remain anonymous, the university was never affiliated with IIJ and did not authorize the institute to issue certificates in its name. The official noted that affiliation attempts were made but IIJ did not stick to stipulated regulations.
He said any certificates issued by IIJ are not recognized by UNIMAID and that the university would take legal action against IIJ if the university’s name is misused.
