The National Identity Management Commission (NIMC), has announced that it has paid off all outstanding debts owed to its Front-End Partners (FEPs). This move is a significant step towards strengthening the Commission’s relationships with its partners and enhancing the overall efficiency of the National Identity Management System.
A statement made available to News the by Head, Corporate Communications Unit, Mr Kayode Adegoke on Friday noted that the FEPs were contracted in 2021 to scale up enrollment for the National Identification Number (NIN). However, despite their hard work, they had only been paid for one year of enrollment activities. The new administration, led by Engr. Abisoye Coker-Odusote, has now cleared the outstanding payments, demonstrating its commitment to fairness and transparency.
To ensure that the FEPs met internationally acceptable standards, the NIMC subjected them to a revalidation exercise. With the support of the Identity for Development (ID4D) and the World Bank, the Commission was able to pay off the outstanding debts after a thorough evaluation.
The FEPs have expressed their gratitude to the NIMC for its proactive efforts in addressing the backlog of payments. Phillip M Adekunle, MD/CEO of Knowledge Square Ltd, commended the Commission’s leadership for its commitment to enhancing the welfare and operational efficiency of enrollment partners.
“Engr. Coker-Odusote has reiterated her commitment to building a credible, reliable, and world-class identity database. With the support of the World Bank and ID4D, the NIMC is well on its way to achieving this goal”, NIMC Spokesperson concluded.
