NCAA Takes Awareness Campaign on Air Passengers Rights and Responsibilities to Abuja

The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), is currently embarking on a nationwide awareness campaign and roadshow to educate air travelers on their rights and responsibilities. The initiative aims to promote a safer, more efficient, and customer-friendly air travel experience in Nigeria.

The awareness campaign, which kicked off in Lagos on Monday, took the campaign to Abuja on Friday on an  interactive roadshow from the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport (NAIA), through the Lugbe, Moshood Abiola Stadium, Central Business District (NNPC TOWER) axis, terminating at the Federal Secretariate.

The NACC Team flagged off by the Director-General, Captain Chris Najomo and led the Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection (DP&CP), Mike Achimuga engaged with passengers, airport staff, and other stakeholders to disseminate vital information on passenger rights and responsibilities.

Key Focus Areas include:

1. Passenger Rights: The campaign  highlights the rights of air travelers, including the right to safe transportation, fair treatment, and compensation for flight delays or cancellations.
2. Passenger Responsibilities: The NCAA also emphasizes the responsibilities of passengers, such as adhering to airport rules and regulations, respecting airline staff, and reporting any safety concerns.
3. Consumer Protection: The authority provides information on the available channels for passengers to report complaints or concerns, such as the NCAA’s Consumer Protection Department.

The Interactive Roadshow avails passengers engagement with NCAA officials, ask questions, and receive educational materials on passenger rights and responsibilities. The roadshow will also include quizzes, games, and giveaways to make the experience more engaging and memorable.

The NCAA has shown commitment to ensuring that air travel in Nigeria is safe, efficient, and customer-friendly. “This awareness campaign is a critical step in achieving this goal.” Says Captain Chris Najomo, Director-General, NCAA.

By educating passengers on their rights and responsibilities, the NCAA aims to promote a culture of safety, respect, and responsibility in Nigeria’s aviation sector.

NCAA has also disclosed visiting Port Harcourt Kano and other airports soon.
