ONDO GUBER 2024: 6233 NYSC Members Mobilized

The Ondo State governorship election is happening today, November 16, 2024, and the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), is playing a crucial role in ensuring its success. Representing the NYSC Director General, Brigadier General YD Ahmed, Mr. Omotade Ayodele Folorunsho, Director Corps Welfare Health Services Headquarters Abuja, confirmed that 6,233 corps members have been mobilized as ad-hoc personnel across the state’s 18 local government areas.
These young individuals have undergone thorough training and sensitization, equipping them to handle their duties effectively. The NYSC has also engaged with security agencies, including the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) and the Police, to ensure the safety of corps members and the electorate.
Pre-Election Preparations
– Sensitization: Corps members have been sensitized on the rules of engagement and the Electoral Act.
– Training: INEC has provided training to corps members to prepare them for their roles.
– Security Measures: The NYSC has met with security agencies to guarantee the safety of corps members and voters.
With these preparations in place, the NYSC is confident in its ability to contribute to a free, fair, and credible election. As Mr. Folorunsho noted, “We have done it elsewhere in the past… and by the special grace of God, this one will even be more successful.” The corps members are highly motivated and ready to offer their patriotic service to the people of Ondo State .
The election itself is a significant event, with incumbent governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of the APC facing challenges from 16 other candidates, including Agboola Ajayi of the PDP. The outcome will determine the future of Ondo State, and the NYSC’s role in ensuring a smooth electoral process is vital.
