Seplat Energy, Channels Academy Collaborate to Train Energy and Judicial Correspondent

ABUJA – Seplat Energy Plc, leading indigenous energy company, collaborated with Channels Academy to train Energy and Judicial Correspondents on enhanced reportage on 30 & 31 of October, 2024.
The training comes at the prestigious Abuja Continental, after Editors and Correspondents were trained in Lagos recently.
Seplat Energy’s objective for training journalists is to enhance reporting and editing skills in the media, while promoting innovation and technological progress in journalism. By doing so, they aim to empower journalists with the expertise needed to effectively cover the energy sector and provide accurate, in-depth information to the public.
The training program, organized in partnership with Channels Academy, covers various aspects, including:
– Core Energy and Judiciary Reporting: Building reporting and editing capacity in the media whilst driving innovation and technology progress in the profession .
– Investigative Reporting: Techniques, advanced research methods, using public records, and interviewing techniques ¹.
– Data Journalism: In judicial and energy reporting, analysis of energy sector developments, and collaborative reporting projects with story ideas development.
– Legal Challenges: Understanding defamation, libel, navigating legal challenges, and the future of energy and law with regards to emerging trends.
Mrs. Chioma Afe, who was represented by the Manager, Corporate Communications at Seplat Energy, Mr. Stanley Opara, reiterated that Seplat Energy’s commitment to building capacity in the media and promoting best practice in the industry.
Seplat Energy say the organization sees the media as a critical stakeholder and believes in value creation and retention for all stakeholders. They aim to encourage excellence and contribute to the advancement of the media in Nigeria .
