OIL THEFT: NSCDC Arrests Another Five Suspects In Imo, impounds 4 Vehicles loaded with illegally refined Crude Oil

The Nigerian Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC), has gone tough as the Agency has arrested five oil thieves in Obah Agwa Autonomous Community, Oguta Ohaji LGA of Imo State.

A press release signed by the National PRO NSCDC NHQ, CSC Babawale Zaid Afolabi has stated that at about 00:15hrs of Friday, 8th December, 2023, the Commandant General’s Special Intelligence Squad (CG’s SIS) acting on intelligence, intercepted and arrested five [5] suspects Conveying large quantities of suspected Illegally refined and adulterated AGO, at Obah Agwa Autonomous Community, Oguta Ohaji LGA of Imo State.

He said the suspects were in four (4) saloon cars containing large quantities of suspected illegally refined AGO, tied in twin cellophane bags and inserted in sacks.

“Preliminary interrogation conducted at the point of arrest revealed that they usually buy the suspected illegally refined AGO at the Abacheke Axis of Ohaji/Egbema LGA of Imo State before being loaded into salon cars for onward transportation and distribution to Onitsha, Anambra and its environs”, Babawale explained.

The suspects include; David Thankgod Orokpo, “M” 28yrs, from Olamaboro LGA of Kogi State, Driver of the Camry with suspected adulterated product; Alex Okafor Chigozie, “M”, 28yrs, from Anambra East LGA, Anambra State, Cousin to the owner of the product and supervisor to David Thankgod; Ngwoli Kingsley Chiechefulam, “M”, 35yrs,  from Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni LGA of Imo State, Owner of the product and driver of the car with suspected adulterated product; Johnson Essien Unyime, “M”, 29yrs, from Ikot Abasi LGA of Akwa Ibom State, Driver of the Toyota Camry 2.2 with suspected adulterated product and
David Gregory Akombo, “M”, 28yrs, from Gboko LGA of Benue State, Driver of the Toyota Avalon with suspected adulterated product.

The exhibit recovered includes; One Black Toyota Camry, with registration number Ebonyi AKL-552AE, filled with about 600 litres of suspected adulterated AGO.

One Ash Toyota Camry with registration number Benue BGT-564AA, filled with about 1,250 litres of suspected adulterated AGO.

One Sky-blue Toyota Avalon with registration number Lagos APP-150CJ, filled with about 600 litres of suspected adulterated AGO, One Moniepoint POS machine.

One Black Toyota Avalon with registration number Rivers SKN-291DC filled with about 1,400 litres of suspected adulterated AGO, #222,500 cash and another #15,000 cash.

The five arrested suspects and four impounded salon cars containing large quantities of suspected adulterated AGO have been handed over to the Commandant, NSCDC Imo State Command for investigation and prosecution.
