MINISTER OF WOMEN AFFIARS MOURNS MAMA TARABA …… Says her demise is a monumental loss

Hon. Minister of Women Affairs in Nigeria, Dame Pauline Tallen has expressed shock and dismay at the death of the Former Minister of Women Affairs, Aisha Jummai Al-Hassan, popularly known as Mama Taraba, whose sad event took place on Friday, 7th May, 2021 in Egypt, according to reports.

Dame Pauline Tallen described the death of Aisha Jummai Al-Hassan as a monumental loss to the Nation and Women in particular. She made these statements in her office on Friday, 7th May, 2021.

Speaking further, Dame Pauline said Aisha Jummai Al-Hassan was an accomplished Civil Servant, an astute Politician and a Patriot who as Minister of Women Affairs, contributed immensely towards Social and Political emancipation of Women in Nigeria.

She urged her family to take solace in the fact that Aisha Jummai Al-Hassan lived a life of service to humanity and prayed God grants her soul eternal rest.

Born on 16 September, 1959 at Jalingo in Taraba state-Nigeria, late Aisha Jummai Alhassan was a legal practioner and was a Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

She represented Taraba North Senatorial district in the 7th National Assembly (2011-2015). Aisha Jummai Al-hassan is Graduate of Law from the Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) Zaria and was called to Bar in 1986. She has worked in the public sector at different levels and capacities.

Al-hassan was a Magistrate with the Kaduna State Judiciary. She was also a Magistrate/Deputy Chief Registrar in the FCT Judiciary, Secretary FCT Judicial Service Committee, Chief Registrar, High Court of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja and was also the first female Attorney – General and Commissioner of Justice, Taraba State, Nigeria.

Aisha Jummai Al-hassan was the APC Gubernatorial Candidate in the 2015 General Elections and also a Member of the APC Board of Trustees and Minister of Women Affairs and Social Development.

According to media reports, she died in Egypt yesterday, 7 May 2021.
