FMC KATSINA NEW PROJECT, EFFORT IN ACHIEVING UNIVERSAL HEALTH COVERAGE – MINISTER

The Minister of Health for State, Sen. Adeleke Olorunnimbe Mamora said it has been the commitment of President Muhammadu Buhari to ensure provision of affordable health care services to all Nigerians in the effort to achieve universal health coverage.
He made this known at the commissioning ceremony of 5 physical projects at the Federal Medical Centre, Katsina, Katsina State.
“This projects we are commissioning today will along the way in not only reducing the morbidity or mortality rate to the barest minimum in our community but also reduce medical tourism of boost the revenue base of the hospital”.
Sen Adeleke Mamora noted that the commitment of both Katsina and Federal government had been necessity by in significant increase in the projecting allocations in all Federal Medical Centres and indeed to all health institutions across Nigeria.
On his part, the Katsina State Governor, Aminu Bello Masari said the project will provide health care services to not only people of the state but to all and sundry across Nigeria.
“It will add value to health care delivery of all”.
Earlier on her part, the Chairperson of the Governing Council, Federal Medical Center Katsina, Hannatu Akilu said in order to boost and to ensure effective service delivery, the hospital has introduced electronic health record (EHR) thereby digitizing operation, noting that it has significantly curtailed revenue pilferage.
The projects are an Emergency Paediatric Unit, Accident and Emergency unit, Medical Intensive Care Unit and Molecular/Microbiology Laboratory complex and a ring road.
