FG calls for full implementation of CRFFN Law
Worried by the continuous loss of businesses to neighbouring countries as a result non-regulation and unprofessional conduct of operators, the Federal government has called for the full implementation of the law governing Freight Forwarding in Nigeria.
The Honourable Minister of Transportation in Nigeria, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi who made this known while declaring open the first Sensitization Workshop on Freight Forwarding as a Career, organized by the Council for the Regulation of Freight Forwarding of Nigeria (CRFFN), noted that the law must be implemented as no one should operate except through the law.
He further stated that the Ministry will henceforth direct the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) not to deal with any Freight Forwarder that is not duly registered with CRFFN.
In separate goodwill messages, the Chairman, Senate Committee on Marine Transportation, Sen. Danjuma Goje and the Chairman, House Committee on Ports and Harbour, Hon. Garba Datti Mohammed, pledged to provide CRFFN with all the support it needs to succeed, adding that operations at the ports must be efficient to boost the economy.
Earlier in a welcome address, the Registrar, Barr. Sam Nwokhu, described career in Freight Forwarding and Supply Chain Management as holding “the promise of driving Nigeria’s competitiveness through job creation, promotion of entrepreneurship, capacity building, and enhancing Ease of Doing Business.
The Registrar, Informed that CRFFN has secured accreditation of International Federation of Freight Forwarders Association (FIATA) to run diploma in Freight Forwarding and Supply Chain Management and high diploma in Supply Chain Management in 2012;and 2013 respectively. These courses are currently running in Benue State University, Redeemer’s University and Nigerian Institute of Transport Technology, Zaria but that 29th October, 2019 remains its official unveiling by the Minister.
