Anambra can do a great deal on Agriculture with Bangladesh-Mike Meze

The Brand Consultant to Anambra State Government, Mr Mike Obiajulu Meze, visited the Peoples Republic of Bangladesh High Commission in Abuja on Friday, October 18, 2019
Meze, who was received by the High Commissioner,Mr. Md. Shameem Ahsan,ndc, noted that over time the Anambra State has evolved stable governance and ease of doing business.
“In the last five years we have been under the administration of the governor Obiano and one of the things that he has brought to bear in governance is the business way of doing business.
“Without running my country down, there is a tendency for people to believe that politics or governance is business as usual but for Anambra State it is business unusual”
“His Excellency Governor Willie Obiano is the first governor to govern the state and came out with a vision as well as a mission as well as a roadmap to the realization of that vision .
“And he has been working without allowing himself to be confused or diverted, working 24/7 to make Anambra the first choice investment destination in Nigeria.
“If you check the Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) for this year in Nigeria, Anambra according to the National Bureau of Statistics Anambra is number one on that list.
“We are working hard, we are not making too much noise but we are focused in getting to where we want to get which is being the first choice investment destination in Nigeria.”
On economic stability and security, Mike said that what makes it most attractive is Anambra has been stable and safer for 13 years.
According to him, “On governance in Anambra in the past 13 years have been stable. It has been a one party state. The All progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) have been in control of Anambra state for the past 12 years going to 13 now.
Governor Peter Obi was there for eight years and handed over to Obiano who is there now, although, after Obi left he declared for PDP but the APGA structure that brought him into governance is the same structure that we are using so it is one party.
” Secondly, Anambra people are very industrious. If for instance you take a censors of hundred billionaires from Nigeria, 80 of them are from Anambra. In Small and Micro Enterprises, we are number one as we have the largest number. We have highly educated labour and the commitment to work is there and then, one thing that we keep trumpeting is that we are the safest state in Nigeria. But that statement wasn’t made by us, it was made by one of the Inspector-Generals of Police , in terms of crime rate since Obiano came in. It wasn’t there six years ago because we had kidnapping, armed robbery and the like, but since the last five years, kidnapping is almost zero and if there is a kidnapping situation at all, not more than 48 hours they will be busted.
“Only on Friday last week, we launched what we call “Operation Kpochapu, meaning clearing a situation’’; we want to rid the state completely of crimes and criminality and we brought the best state of the act crime equipment, it was all over the news
We will be the first state to use the kind of equipment we will be using.
“I can see that with agriculture which is one of the areas we are seriously pursuing under the Obiano administration, there is a great deal we can do with Bangladesh”, Mike said.
