2024 World AIS Day to Explore Efficient Data Management in Aviation

Stakeholders in Nigeria’s aviation sector will on Wednesday, the 15th of May, 2024 gather at the Lagos Travel Inn, Toyin Street, Ikeja for the 2024 World AIS (Aeronautical Information Services), Day celebration, organized by the Aeronautical Information Management Association of Nigeria (AIMAN).
With the theme: Efficient Data Management in an Automated Environment, industry experts are expected to brainstorm on the critical role of automation in the collation, editing, formatting and dissemination of aeronautical information as it enhances the overall efficiency and safety of air navigation in the country.

According to a statement signed by AIMAN President, William George Ngerem, the theme of this year’s event was informed by the huge investment the Federal Government was making in the area of deployment of facilities for the imminent takeoff of the AIS Automation in the country.

The statement hinted that the event would attract industry bigwigs such as the Honourable Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Barr. Festus Keyamo, (SAN), Ag. Director General, Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), Capt. Chris Najomo, Ag. Rector, Nigerian College of Aviation Technology (NCAT) Joseph Shaka Amalighwe and the MD, Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA), Engr Umar Farouk who will be the Chief Host.

In the same vein, the Director, Aerodrome and Airspace Standards, NCAA, Engr Godwin Balang will superintend the event as chairman while the keynote and celebration addresses will be delivered by the Director, Special Duties, NAMA, Mr Ahmad Abba and Director of Air Traffic Services, NAMA, Mr John Tayo respectively.

The World AIS Day celebration is an annual event observed by all contracting states in accordance with the declaration by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) to facilitate better professional practices and enlighten the public on the importance of aeronautical information services as a safety critical profession in the aviation industry.
