Oru Leonard
A hundred days may seem like a short time in governance, but for Hon. Theresa Akwaji Ushie, the Executive Chairman of Bekwarra Local Government Area, it has been a period of bold decisions, visible transformation, and remarkable achievements. In just three months, she has rewritten the narrative of grassroots leadership, proving that governance is about action, not empty promises.
With a hands-on approach and a deep passion for development, Hon. Ushie has hit the ground running, delivering key projects that have impacted lives, boosted the local economy, and laid the foundation for a more prosperous Bekwarra. From road rehabilitation to clean water initiatives, her administration is setting a new standard for effective governance.
Transforming Infrastructure: Connecting Communities, Driving Growth
One of the biggest challenges in rural areas is the lack of good roads, which often cripples commerce, healthcare access, and social interactions. But Hon. Ushie refused to let Bekwarra be left behind.
In just 100 days, she has graded an impressive 17.6km of roads, making travel easier for farmers, traders, students, and health workers. These roads are not just pathways; they are lifelines connecting people to opportunities.
Some of the major roads graded include: Afrike Ward 1 (Okpeche – Adagom Road) – 6.9km
Gakem Ward (Illah Village Road) – 1.4km
Abukpen Village Road (Through to Gakem Community Town Hall) – 300m
Ugidi Market Area – 560 square meters
Beten – Akpakpa – Abuana – Oloko Road – 9km
The impact!!!
Farmers can now transport their goods more easily.
Businesses are thriving due to improved accessibility.
Schools and healthcare centers are now more reachable.
Commuting is faster, safer, and more convenient for everyone.
Bekwarra is moving forward, one graded road at a time!

Clean Water for All: Ending the Struggle for Safe Drinking Water
For years, many communities in Bekwarra have faced the challenge of accessing clean, potable water. Hon. Ushie has made it a priority to change this reality.
Under her leadership, the drilling and construction of solar-powered boreholes is underway in multiple locations, ensuring that clean water is available to the people.
Nyanya Ward – Solar-powered borehole (Ongoing)
St. Gregory Primary School – Solar-powered borehole (Ongoing)
Beten Ward – Solar-powered borehole (Ongoing)
With these projects, thousands of people no longer have to walk long distances in search of water. Schools will have clean water for students, and families will enjoy improved hygiene and sanitation, reducing the spread of waterborne diseases.
Hon. Ushie is not just providing water; she’s restoring dignity and improving quality of life.

Leadership That Works, Governance That Delivers
What sets Hon. Theresa Akwaji Ushie apart is her passion for service, her commitment to action, and her determination to uplift Bekwarra. Unlike leaders who wait for years before making an impact, she has hit the ground running, demonstrating that real leadership is about results, not rhetoric.
Her first 100 days have laid a solid foundation for greater achievements to come. The roads, the boreholes, and the renewed sense of hope among the people are just the beginning.
Hon. Ushie has proven that a leader’s worth is measured by her impact, and her impact is undeniable.
