Youth Development Takes Center Stage: Minister Olawande Unveils Partnership

The Federal Ministry of Youth Development has taken a significant step towards empowering Nigerian youth. Minister of State for Youth Development, Ayodele Olawande, met with the NYSC Foundation’s management team, led by Executive Secretary Barr. Ventim Bako, to solidify their partnership ¹. This collaboration aims to provide young people with meaningful opportunities and support, deterring them from negative behaviors.
Olawande emphasized the importance of engaging youth in areas like agriculture, arts and crafts, and ICT. He envisions NYSC foundations in all 774 local government areas, fostering positive change and development. The Minister expressed his commitment to serving the youth passionately, recognizing they will be the country’s future leaders.
The partnership also received support from the Permanent Secretary, Olubunmi Olusanya, who assured that the Ministry will collaborate with organizations to better the youth. This move is part of the Federal Government’s efforts to promote national unity and development.
Key Areas of Focus:
– Agriculture: Providing training and resources for young farmers
– Arts and Crafts: Encouraging creative entrepreneurship
– ICT: Developing digital skills for the modern workforce
The NYSC Foundation, as an alumni and umbrella body, seeks to build capacity and promote entrepreneurial skills among youth. They appreciate the Federal Government’s continuous support and funding of the NYSC Scheme.
Additionally, the bill for the establishment of the “NYSC Trust Fund” has passed its first reading and awaits a second reading at the red chamber. This development signals a promising future for Nigeria’s youth.
With this partnership, the Federal Ministry of Youth Development and NYSC Foundation are poised to make a lasting impact on Nigeria’s next generation.
