YOU NEED TO BE HEALTHY TO ENJOY GOOD AGEING – NSCC

The National Senior Citizen Centre in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs commenced a one day medical outreach to older persons in Karu village to commemorate the International day of older persons.

The Director General of NSCC, Dr Emem Omokaro while addressing participants,  stated that the centre is always concerned about the senior citizens especially their health.

“Gone are the days when older persons were neglected and they had to beg because their health deteriorated. We are here to fix the health challenges “, she added.

The DG NSCC Dr Emem Omokaro with Mr. Kuliya Mansur, the Acting Director, Social Development in the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development who represented the Ministry. 

Emem noted that the outreach is centered to attending to some of the health challenges of senior citizens for free .

” We crave for sustainability and as such we are extending hands of patnership inorder to continue with a program like this, not just in Karu but across every village that has older persons, Emem added.

Stakeholders were urged to give their support in all forms inorder to ease the work of the doctors and nurses that are there for them.

Dr Felix Oyare,a public health physician thanked the participants for coming out to make the outreach possible and urge them to maintain orderliness to ease their work.

Felix stated that for you to age gracefully, you need to be healthy.

Dr Felix added that ” we are here because we want you to have knowledge of modifiable factors to be stronger and healthier as you live long”.

With this outreach henceforth you will watch your health and diet, he concluded.
