You are bigger than food on the table appointments – Sen Imoke

Emmanuel Alfred

The former Governor of Cross River State and Deputy Director-General (Operation) of Atiku National Presidential Campaign Council, Sen Liyel Imoke led the Campaign Council to a Town Hall Meeting with traditional rulers, Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) and the people of Yakurr Local Government Area of Cross River State.

Sen. Imoke while addressing the people stated that it was time to take back and rebuild the wasted years the locust, All Progressives Congress (APC), has eaten. He described the 8 years rule of the APC led Government as years of locust where institutions stopped functioning both at the State and Federal levels due to decadence and mismanagement.

He remarked that Yakurr people are bigger than “food on the table” appointments, stating that the APC government wanted to make the people poorer.

“Those that left us cost us nothing. The umbrella is already in the consciousness of the Yakurr people. We are bringing to you what is good for Yakurr and not what is good for us. PDP is the party that is going to win the Presidential Election” Sen. Imoke added.

The Paramount Ruler of Yakurr and the Obol Lopon of Ugep, Obol Ofem Ubana Eteng prayed for the delegation and stated that he will act exactly as Sen. Imoke had advised. The Obol Lopon said, “We will do exactly as you have said. We will talk to our subjects, we will talk to our children to vote PDP. We will make sure that no mistake is made for us to regret tomorrow because if we don’t vote rightly now, we will regret tomorrow … We are following PDP because you instructed us when you were leaving the office to vote the PDP. Since then, we have been following the PDP and we still follow you.”

The meeting also had in attendance the Chairman CRS Presidential Campaign Council, Sen. Gershom Bassey, DG CRS Presidential Campaign Council, Hon. Obetem Okorn, Rt. (Hon.) Itam Abang, Member Rep Boki II State Constituency, Dr. Joe Edet, National and State House of Assembly candidates, amongst other critical stakeholders.
